SENSOR INTERFACE MODULE The BlueEarth Sensor Interface Module (SI-01) is a small (2.25" x 2.75") interface board that was designed for converting the low-level signals from various sensors into a digital format compatible with popular microcontrollers. The board includes a single channel, 16-bit delta-sigma type A/D converter. It also optionally includes oscillator circuitry that can be used to measure the output of variable capacitance type sensors. Since it is compatible with a wide range of sensors and microcontrollers, the SI-01 is an economical solution for many data acquisition applications. Complete documentation, including example circuits and sample software, are included with each SI-01 order. Key features and specifications include: Crystal Semiconductor CS5507 16-bit delta-sigma type A/D converter. The CS5507 is a very low power converter that features a single differential input channel, a digital filter circuit to reject 50/60 Hz noise, an on-chip 2.5 volt reference, and built-in self-calibration circuitry. Delta-sigma converters are ideal for measuring low frequency signals that represent physical, chemical, and biological processes. Analog input signal levels can range from 0 - 5 volts, with a maximum differential of 2.5 volts. Operating temperature range of 0° C to 70° C. 6mA typical operating current (excluding sensors). On-board 5 volt regulator with good long-term stability. Series resistors on all signal lines for transient & over voltage protection. Screw terminals for all external connections. Sensor Interface Module options include: Stable oscillator circuit (SI-01-C) for deriving output changes from variable capacitance type (i.e., relative humidity) sensors. Temperature compensation for the sensor excitation voltage. Components can be added to vary the excitation output voltage based on ambient temperature. Protective plastic enclosure. This case is easily customized to your specific application by drilling the appropriate access holes required for making connections to the SI-01.
